My mornings used to be a mess. I woke up when the kids woke me up, which meant that I didn’t have time to do anything for me in the morning.
I felt rushed and overwhelmed most mornings.
On more than one occasion, I recall telling friends and family that morning time was the absolute worst part of the day.
Enough was enough. I knew that something needed to change. Life was passing me by.
I was so tired of feeling physically, emotionally, and spiritually drained.
My First Morning Routine
I made a commitment to getting up just a little before the kids so that I could organize our days better.
My morning routine started off slow. But over time I began to add in self-care time to nourish my mind, body, and soul.
Today, I can honestly say that morning time is now my absolute favorite time of day. A solid morning routine makes the rest of my day feel more manageable and enjoyable.
These days I get up about two hours before my kids and spend about an hour devoted to my self-care and the other hour working on my personal growth goals or getting organized.
But there was a season of life when I only had about 20 minutes to devote to my morning routine. And I have to tell you, that 20 minutes made a world of difference in how I approached my day.
