As part of my gratitude practice, I’ve decided to post once a month about the things that bring me joy. Even though this month has been a tough one with every member of my family being sick at some point in the last 30 days, there are still many things that have brought me joy. Read on to find out what they are.

1. Baking chocolate chip cookies.
With everyone sick at home, baking chocolate chip cookies with my little guys brought us all a little bit of much-needed joy.
Chocolate chip cookies are my husband’s favorite treat. He was pretty happy to come home to a plate of freshly-baked cookies this week. Our chocolate chip cookies aren’t fancy. We stick with the Nestle Toll House recipe on the back of the bag of semi-sweet chocolate chips.
One of my favorite things about chocolate chip cookies is that it only takes about 20 minutes from the time you begin making the dough until they are ready to eat! I know that’s is a small thing, but with impatient sick kids at home, this little detail made a huge difference.
2. Reading a Hardcover Novel
While I love my Kindle Paperwhite. I also really love reading actual books.
This month I’m reading The Woman in the Window by A.J. Finn. This is the book I chose from my Book of the Month subscription.
It’s a psychological thriller about a woman with agoraphobia who “witnessed” a crime while under the influence of alcohol and medications for her condition. It’s a real page-turner!
3. Drinking Green Tea
Bronchitis made drinking coffee less than appealing this month.
I’ve switched to drinking green tea with honey and lemon. And, I think I may stick with this new morning beverage. There’s something about drinking tea that brings me comfort.
What about you? Do you prefer coffee or tea?
4. My New Water Bottle
One of my goals is to drink at least half body weight in ounces of water a day. I bought a new water bottle to help inspire me to keep up with this new goal.
The bottle has time marks on it for tracking how much water I drink throughout the day. The marks have been motivating me to keep drinking.
I’ve used the bottle for the last two weeks, so the jury is still out to see if it keeps me motivated. But so far, it’s working.
5. The 14-Day Self-Love Challenge
We started the 14-Day Self-Love Challenge this week and I am loving the participation of the women going through the challenge in the She Has A Plan Facebook Group.
Seeing everyone take time to love on themselves during this challenge is bringing me a ton of joy!
Tell me, what’s bringing you joy this month? I’d love to hear about it in the comments section below.
