So who am I? That’s hard to sum up. I’m sure that I am like you in many ways.

I am a wife, mother, daughter, sister and friend. I am a writer, a lawyer, a small business owner, a volunteer, a nature lover, and a beloved child of God. But most important of all is who I no longer am. I’m no longer an unhappy mom. And that is the focus of this blog.

But first, let me tell you a little about my family.

My Inspiration Is My Family

I’m happily married to my law school sweetheart. He’s the most patient and loving man I could have ever hoped to marry.

I’m a lucky girl.

Together we have two delightful and spirited young boys that keep us on our toes and constantly learning more about ourselves than we’d ever considered. We also have an old cat and a new fish.

My family is really the inspiration for most of my writing since my former interests (traveling, learning a foreign language, eating out, going to the movies, wine tasting, and so on) have really gone into hibernation since becoming a mother.

And I’m totally fine with that.

Really, I am.

From Unhappy Mom to Mom Choosing Joy

But I didn’t start off as a happy mom. It was a real struggle leaving my “old self” behind and I was not happy for a long time (I’m sure that lack of sleep didn’t help either!).

I felt overscheduled and overwhelmed most of the time.

I also felt guilty, angry, confused, anxious, and depressed more often than I’d like to remember.

Have you experienced any of these feelings since becoming a mom?

It wasn’t until I started intentionally planning my life, clarifying my goals, and practicing self-care and gratitude on a daily basis that my outlook and my attitude towards my life and my family slowly started to change for the better.

I began to live my life with intention.

I began to own my thoughts, words and actions like I’d never done.

I found peace and joy by focusing first on what matters most in my life.

My hope is that this blog will help other moms discover that peace and joy, too.

My Mission at Moms Choose Joy

I’m a lawyer in my day job, but I trained as a life coach after kids mostly to coach myself out of my rut.

My busy schedule doesn’t permit me to take on individual life coaching clients. But I am passionate about teaching women to learn how to focus on what matters most, so they can begin living a life they truly love.

And that’s why I founded Moms Choose Joy in 2015.

My mission at Moms Choose Joy is to help busy and overwhelmed moms choose joy by encouraging and empowering them to organize their families, plan their lives, and care for themselves.

What You’ll Find At Moms Choose Joy

Moms will find weekly doses of inspiration, encouragement, and tips on self-care, family life, meal planning, life organization, productivity and time management, financial planning, juggling work with family time, and just life in general.

But my greatest desire is to inspire and encourage YOU to live your life to the fullest. This does NOT mean being a perfect mom. It does mean looking beyond the imperfections of your life, and the chaos of your day, and learning to choose joy in your imperfect but blessed life.
