Before I get into the details of the 2017 Personal Growth Plan worksheets, I want to give you some background on why I created these goal setting worksheets.

Motherhood is a Juggling Act

I’ll be the first to admit that having children has been the most challenging experience of my life.

Caring for multiple little people while juggling a career, a marriage, a home, and self-care is downright difficult.

In the early days of my motherhood journey, I felt trapped in a cycle of waking up, caring for the kids, cleaning the house (minimally and only as needed), feeding myself on the go, going to work, getting the kids fed and ready for bed, collapsing into bed, only to start the cycle over again the next day.

Now don’t get me wrong, my children are everything to me. I can’t imagine life without them. But in those early years, I often felt frustrated, exhausted, and overwhelmed. Can you relate?

Begin With the End in Mind

I’ve always been a planner. But as a mom of littles, I felt that planning was impossible.

When the frustration, exhaustion, and overwhelm began to take a toll on my emotional and physical health, I knew that something needed to change. And planning was the answer.

I started waking up a little earlier so I could have quiet time and organize my family a little better. Once a week, I started scheduling one hour of time to plan for the week ahead.

And, I began setting goals for what I wanted my life to look like.

With this “big picture” plan of my life in place, I began to make incremental changes in my daily habits and routines, and my life started to change. I read Stephen Covey’s, The 7 Habits of Highly Effective People: Powerful Lessons in Personal Change, and his words were the motivation I needed to begin with the end in mind.

Once I made goal-setting a priority, my life was more manageable, my emotional and physical health improved, and my family was happier.

I want the same for you.

Why I Founded Moms Choose Joy

I’m a lawyer in my day job, but I trained as a life coach after kids mostly to coach myself out of my rut. But the skills that I’ve acquired as a coach in not only setting goals but also achieving them is the primary reason I founded Moms Choose Joy in 2015.

My goal in creating this blog has always been to help busy and overwhelmed moms organize their families, plan their lives, and care for themselves.

My passion is to help moms learn how to focus on what matters most so they can truly live a life they love.

This passion is what lead me to create the 2017 Personal Growth Plan worksheets.

Why Traditional Goal Setting Doesn’t Work

The worksheets in the 2017 Personal Growth Plan go way beyond just setting goals for the new year.

There are plenty of statistics that will tell you that most people don’t follow through on their New Year’s resolutions. I’m sure if you think about your own life, there may be 1 or 100 New Year’s resolutions you didn’t follow through on.

I know that’s true for me. “I will exercise regularly” was on my list of resolutions for several years before I ever started exercising regularly.

What I’ve found is that there are five reasons why traditional goal setting doesn’t work. Traditional goal setting doesn’t:

  1. first identify what is most important in your life
  2. plan for obstacles that could prevent you from achieving your goals
  3. set realistic expectation for getting things done
  4. allow you to track your progress
  5. have a review system in place to keep you moving forward

2017 Personal Growth Plan Worksheets

The worksheets in this 2017 Personal Growth Plan printable address all five of these problems. The worksheets will guide you step-by-step in putting a plan in place to achieve your goals.

The 7-Step Personal Growth Plan worksheets guide you in:

  • identifying 4-6 personal growth projects for 2017;
  • reflecting on what worked and what didn’t work in 2016;
  • creating a project plan for each of your personal growth projects;
  • implementing a realistic and doable plan; and
  • designing a review system to help you stay on track of your progress

  2. What a great and truthful post! It is hard to juggle everything while raising babies. Us mommas tend to get pushed to the back burner. This is a great organizer to keep us in check. Thanks for sharing for the #homemattersparty

  3. Hi Cassie

    I’m trying to subscribe, but keep getting an error. I checked my e-mail address and it is correct. Not sure what the reason for the error is?

    Kind regards,
    Elizna

    • Hi, Elizna. Sorry about that. The server was down for a bit earlier. It’s back up and running. I just took a look and it looks like you were able to subscribe. Please let me know if you didn’t receive the worksheets and I’ll send them right over. Thank YOU for requesting them. Enjoy your weekend!

  4. Hi, I’m not a mom yet, not even married (yet!), but I think this printable will help me tremendously. I was just telling my boyfriend yesterday evening that achieving balance to my life would help me tremendously. I deal with depression, anxiety, autism, and a sleep disorder that leaves me tired all day, so I can’t work and it’s difficult to set a good routine. My health is good, as in, the numbers are good, but I’m quite overweight and am otherwise not at my prime when, at almost 25 years old, I should be. So I have much to work on, but I didn’t really have much of a plan. Then I found a pin to this post on pinterest, and immediately signed up to download the freebie. I’ll print it off today and save it to add to my 2017 bullet journal. Thanks!

    • Hi, Sarah. It sounds like you are dealing with a lot! I hope the worksheets help you come up with a plan for the new year. I’d love to hear about your progress in a few months. Thank YOU for requesting them. Enjoy your weekend.
